What Is An Activated Carbon Compact Filter?

The activated carbon filter is a tank filter apparatus, the shell is generally stainless steel or glass steel, and the interior is filled with activated carbon, used to filter the water bottom of the free matter, micro-organisms, and some heavy metal ions, and can effectively reduce the water colour.

The activated carbon filter is a more common water treatment electronic equipment, as the water treatment system pre-treatment needs to conduct the residual chlorine that can not be removed from the pre-stage filter, can effectively ensure the service life of the post-stage electronic equipment, improve the water quality, to avoid water pollution, especially to avoid the post-stage reverse osmosis membrane, ion exchange resin and other free state residual oxygen poisoning water pollution.

At the same time, it also conducts small molecules of microorganisms and other polluting substances from the former stage, and has a significant conductive effect on removing odours, colloids and pigments, heavy metal ions, etc. at the bottom of the water, and also has the effect of reducing COD.

Some features of activated carbon compact filters

1. The activated carbon adsorption filter adopts a hydraulic simulation of the long diameter design, and adopts a reasonable particle size and an area of more than 1000M2/g of high efficiency activated carbon, which can make it have both the upper layer of special effects of filtration and the lower layer of high efficiency adsorption and other functions, greatly improving the degree of water purification and the service life of carbon.

2. The residual chlorine content of the water after treatment by activated carbon adsorption filter: ≤0.1PPM.

3. Excellent performance on odour, organic matter, colloid, iron and residual chlorine in water bodies.

4. It is also good for reducing the turbidity and colour of the water body, purifying the water quality and reducing the pollution of the subsequent system (reverse osmosis, ultrafiltration, ion exchanger).

Applications of activated carbon filters

Activated carbon filters are mainly used in mineral water, swimming pools and other processes for water purification. It has the function of deodorisation, odour removal and removal of organic matter such as chloride ions from water. The housing is made of stainless steel or carbon steel and the filler is water purification activated carbon.

Depending on the process and the form of encapsulation used, there are two types: tank type and tube type. The canister type uses activated carbon granules directly and lays quartz sand underneath, resulting in high water efficiency, but regeneration is relatively troublesome. The tube type is made by adding activated carbon granules to a binder such as sintering at a high temperature. It is more convenient to use and regenerate.

Notes on the use of activated carbon filters

1. Adsorption of residual chlorine

Activated carbon can adsorb both organic matter and residual chlorine in water, and the adsorption effect on residual chlorine can be almost 100%.

2. Treatment before use

Before using activated carbon for the first time, it should be soaked and rinsed repeatedly to remove the activated carbon broken into particles during transport to avoid these particles affecting the effluent water quality and subsequent equipment.

3. Water quality requirements

Before adsorption treatment, activated carbon should be removed as much as possible from large particles of sediment and colloid to prevent blocking the pore structure of the activated carbon, in order to ensure the adsorption effect of the activated carbon.
